- Sticky Web
- Thunder
- Energy Ball
- Hidden Power Ice / Thunder Wave
[SET COMMENTS]
Galvantula serves as an excellent Sticky Web lead for supporting its offensive Bug-type team members with speed control. Thunder, in conjunction with Compound Eyes, is a strong and spammable STAB move that gives Galvantula an offensive presence, taking on opposing hazard setting leads, threatening paralysis and denting Water- and Flying-types. Energy Ball allows Galvantula to threaten bulky Ground-types like Great Tusk, Hippowdon, Swampert, and Gastrodon. Hidden Power Ice deals with Flying- and Dragon-types like Gliscor, the Landorus formes, Garchomp, and Dragonite. Thunder Wave can be used over Hidden Power Ice to paralyze set-up sweepers and fast threats that can't be effectively slowed down with Sticky Web, most notably Dragonite, Galarian-Zapdos, Mega Aerodactyl, opposing Mega Pinsir and Volcarona, without having to rely on Thunder to do so, at the cost of losing coverage against Pokemon that resist both Thunder and Energy Ball. Sticky Web lowers the amount of Quiver Dance boosts needed for Volcarona to outspeed Regieleki, Unburden Sneasler and Sand Rush Excadrill, making setups more efficient. Choice Scarf users Kleavor and Buzzwole will also outspeed those Pokemon, limiting the amount of revenge kill options against them and improving their effectiveness against Fire- and Rock-types by taking care of Choice Scarf Blacephalon, Hisuian Arcanine, and Iron Boulder. Sticky Web also gives Mega Pinsir more opportunities to use Return instead of Quick Attack to increase its damage output or Earthquake to KO Pokemon that would usually threaten it, like Choice Scarf Nihilego and Hisuian Arcanine. Scizor can OHKO or force Diancie out before it can Mega Evolve to allow Galvantula to set up Sticky Web against Fairy- and Rock-teams.
